Acceptable Use Policy

Last updated: April 2026

1. Purpose

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") defines acceptable and prohibited behavior on the ParentSync platform. ParentSync is designed to facilitate safe, professional communication between schools and parents. All users — including school administrators, teachers, staff, and parents — must comply with this policy. This AUP is incorporated by reference into the ParentSync Terms of Service.

2. Prohibited Content

The following types of content are strictly prohibited on the ParentSync platform:

  • Harassment and threats: Content that harasses, bullies, intimidates, or threatens any individual, including other parents, teachers, or school staff.
  • Profanity and hate speech: Vulgar, obscene, or offensive language; content that promotes hatred or discrimination based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or any other protected characteristic.
  • Sexual content: Any sexually explicit or suggestive material, including text, images, or links.
  • Unauthorized sharing of child photos: Sharing photographs or personal information of children outside the platform, or using the platform to distribute images of children without proper authorization from parents and the school.
  • Spam and unsolicited messages: Repetitive, bulk, or unsolicited messages unrelated to school-parent communication, including advertising or promotional content.
  • Impersonation: Pretending to be another person, school, or organization, or misrepresenting your identity or affiliation.
  • Off-platform solicitation: Using the platform to solicit users for commercial purposes, fundraising not authorized by the school, or directing users to external services unrelated to school communication.
  • Malware and phishing: Sharing links or attachments containing malware, viruses, phishing attempts, or any content designed to compromise device security or steal personal information.

3. Prohibited Conduct

The following activities are prohibited when using the ParentSync platform:

  • Unauthorized access: Attempting to access accounts, data, or systems that you are not authorized to use, including other schools' data or other users' accounts.
  • Automated scraping: Using bots, scrapers, or automated tools to extract data from the platform without prior written authorization from ParentSync.
  • Circumventing moderation: Attempting to bypass, disable, or interfere with content moderation systems, rate limits, or other security measures implemented by ParentSync.

4. Enforcement

Violations of this Acceptable Use Policy will be addressed through a graduated enforcement process:

  • First violation: A formal warning will be issued to the user and, where applicable, to the school administrator. The violating content will be removed.
  • Second violation: Temporary suspension of the user's account for a period determined by the severity of the violation. The school administrator will be notified.
  • Third violation: Permanent termination of the user's account. Repeated violations by users within the same school may result in review of the school's subscription.

ParentSync reserves the right to skip stages in the enforcement process for severe violations (such as threats, illegal content, or malware distribution) and to take immediate action including permanent termination.

5. Reporting

If you encounter content or behavior that violates this Acceptable Use Policy, please report it using the "Report" button available on messages within the ParentSync app. Reports are reviewed by school administrators and, when necessary, by the ParentSync team. You may also report violations by emailing legal@parentsync.net.

6. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Acceptable Use Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, legal requirements, or platform capabilities. Users will be notified of material changes via the platform or email. Continued use of ParentSync after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
